“Council” or “Tribal Council” means the Yurok Tribal Council, the governing body of the Tribe pursuant to Article IV, Section 5, of the Yurok Constitution.

“Court” or “Tribal Court” means the Yurok Tribal Court, which was established by the Yurok Tribe Judicial Branch Ordinance, consisting of a Trial Court and an appellate court.

“Exclusion” means prohibiting or conditioning entry of a person onto Yurok lands.

“Person” means any Tribal Member, non-Indian, non-member Indian, or legal entity.

“Reservation” or “Yurok Reservation” means all lands within the exterior boundaries of the Yurok Reservation.

“Serious Felony” means any crime listed under California Penal Code Sections 1192.7(c) and 1192.8(a), or equivalent crimes under a Tribal, state, or federal law.

“Tribal member” means a duly enrolled member of the Yurok Tribe listed on the Yurok Tribal membership roll.

“Tribe” means the Yurok Tribe.

“Trust lands” means all land the fee title to which is owned by the United States of America and held in trust for the benefit of the Tribe or a Tribal member.

“Yurok lands” means all lands within the Reservation, trust lands, and other lands owned by the Tribe or a Tribal entity.

“Yurok Tribal Police” means the Yurok Tribal Police Department, or any subsequent Tribal department or agency with primary law enforcement responsibilities for the Tribe.

“Yurok Tribal Supreme Court” means the appellate court created by the Yurok Judicial Branch Ordinance and the Yurok Rules of Appellate Procedure for the purpose of hearing an appeal of a decision by the trial court of Yurok Tribal Court. [Ord. 80 § 1008, adopted, 10/6/2022.]
