Any Yurok Tribal member may apply to the Yurok Tribal Court for a change of name. Application for the change of the name of a person will be heard and determined by the Yurok Tribal Court. The change of name shall be granted by the Court unless the Court finds that the change is not consistent with the public interest. The request for name change may be filed within a proceeding where a name change would be appropriate, such as divorce or adoption, or may be requested by a petition for name change.
