(a) Any right to benefits under this chapter shall be barred unless a work injury is reported in writing to the casino or the administrator within 30 days of its occurrence.

(b) However, the time for filing a work injury claim shall not begin to run until the employee or dependent is aware, or by the exercise of reasonable diligence should have been aware, of the relationship between the injury or death and the occurrence that causes the work injury. This extension of the statute of limitations, however, is only good for six months from the date of the accident date that allegedly caused employee’s work injury.
