It is important to the Yurok Tribe to provide for the operation, maintenance, and management of public utilities that are owned by the Yurok Tribe so that Tribal and community members have affordable, safe, and reliable utilities. This will help safeguard the health and wellbeing of the tribe. The Yurok Public Utility District shall be bound by the Tribal Constitution and Tribal ordinances adopted to protect, preserve, or safeguard the cultural and natural resources of the Yurok Reservation and the contiguous ancestral lands. The Yurok Public Utility District is bound by the terms and requirements of the Tribal land use plans. It shall also be the policy of the Yurok Tribe that the operation, maintenance, and management of the public utilities and services herein described shall be carried out through an efficient program and in a financially responsible, cost-effective, and self-sufficient manner.
