(a) This chapter applies to enrolled members of the Yurok Tribe, all enrolled members of a federally recognized Indian tribe, and all persons eligible for enrollment in a federally recognized Indian tribe, or who otherwise meet the definition of “Indian” under this chapter.

(b) This chapter applies to trust or restricted land and to trust personalty of which the descent and distribution is governed by federal law. The Yurok Tribal Court has the authority to conduct probate of any person domiciled on the Reservation of assets that are not trust or restricted land or trust personalty, such as land, real property, and personal property under the Yurok Nontrust Property Ordinance.
