Any party may request a continuance of a hearing by filing a motion for continuance with the Court Clerk. The motion must include a reason demonstrating good cause why the continuance should be granted, indicate the number of prior continuances sought with dates, be in the format required under these rules, and be requested at least seven calendar days in advance of the scheduled hearing date, unless exigent circumstances exist. Good cause consideration may include, but is not limited to: exigent circumstances, timing of the request, prior continuances, and imposition on the parties for delay of their case. Further, all motions for continuances should be served on all parties in the case and the proof of service is required upon filing the motion with the Court. Granting of the continuance will be at the discretion of the Court. The Court on its own motion may continue matters for exigent circumstances and will notify the parties if said continuance is necessary. [Ord. 81, amended, 1/6/2023; Ord. 63, adopted, 12/6/2019.]
